The warmer seasons are definitely a huge factor on the increase of flea infestation outbreaks. Often times fleas will hitch a ride on your pet into your home where one or two fleas lay a batch of 15-20 eggs. These eggs in ideal conditions can hatch and within 4 weeks can already reach adult hood and the process restarts over again except the flea numbers are in the hundreds.
Effective flea control can be difficult sometimes requiring 2 treatments. A unique chemical is required which aids in breaking this breeding cycle to truly eradicate the flea infestation. Flea eradication does not happen overnight as it can take up to six weeks before all fleas have come in contact with the treatment and are eradicated. Between this period flea bites will still occur and often people will therefore believe the treatment had not worked when in fact the 4-6 week mark is where the issue declines and is eradicated.
Effective flea control relies on the house hold pet being treated by licensed veterinarian as we cannot spray your pet! ….and yes, we have been asked to spray the house hold pet for fleas before!
