Termite Control Gold Coast
Finding a local, qualified pest-control company with expertise in termite control is one of the best investments of your time and money you can make when it comes to protecting your home against these nasty property predators. Without the help of experts, termites can invade your home undetected and cause serious structural damage. Then you have two problems to contend with: repairing the damage itself and figuring out how to get rid of the culprits. It isn’t easy. That’s why we’re 100% committed to helping homeowners prevent termite infestations whenever possible.
Gold Coast Termite Control Service
You’ve seen the statistic—approximately one in three homes in Australia have been or will suffer a termite infestation during the life of the house. Sitting back and hoping it doesn’t happen to you is probably not a wise plan, given how much is at stake. That’s because termites are more than unwanted pests. They are highly destructive ones.
Here are a few steps we recommend all homeowners take to minimize the risk of termite problems:
1. Have regular termite inspections. This is the most important step, because termites can build colonies, find entry points to your home and begin eating away at wood in your home long before you ever detect the problem. A trained, licensed professional knows termite behavior, patterns, and signs inside and out—after all, we do this every day. Regular inspections will uncover existing or potential problems before they become disasters. We will also look for any ways your home may be vulnerable to attack and make recommendations to correct these. By all means, if you see any suspicious signs of possible termite activity (see below), call us right away. But you need a professional with the knowledge, experience and training to conduct regular inspections in order to detect the earliest indications of a problem and/or take preventative measures long before trouble erupts.
2. Make your home “termite unfriendly” by removing any conditions that attract termites to your home. Like us, they rely upon reliable sources of food, moisture and warmth, so problem areas include things like standing water near your home’s foundations; leaking pipes, toilets, appliances or roofs; and any rotting trees or even firewood/lumber stored too close to your home.
3. Consider your landscaping. It’s better to plant shrubs some distance away from the foundations — at least a meter or more—to prevent them from leading termites straight to your house. Remember, the less wood comes into direct (or near-direct) contact with your home, the better. Same thing with timber mulching, which should not be piled in planting beds around the perimeter of your house.
4. Don’t neglect freestanding structures on your property such as storage sheds. Termites are just as happy to eat away at the structure of your tool shed as your home, allowing colonies to grow and thrive on your property in the process.
5. Look for the signs. This is no replacement for professional termite inspections and prevention, because by the time the presence of termites is visible to the untrained eye, it means some (or a lot of) damage has already taken place. But if you do notice signs of termite activity—such as mud tubes, discarded insect wings, termite droppings, or wood damage—call us immediately. We will assess the problem and address it aggressively.
